Jean is the half Japanese/half German cousin of Mukuro Ikusaba and Junko Enoshima. He gets added to Junko's plans in the last moments as the "Ultimate Horse Rider". While he is excellent with horses and knows enough to be convincing, his actual title is "Ultimate Army Medic" as he's Mukuro's army buddy. The title "Ultimate Despair" also comes with the territory.

While he likes Mukuro, he doesn't exactly like Junko, but he goes with her plans to protect Mukuro even if he doesn't admit it. He's mostly neutral on the whole despair thing but leans more on the darker side than the other, since hope is even more dumb in his humble opinion.

[Mukuro gave a heavy sigh as she stood in front of the mirror in her room, adjusting the uncomfortable wig over her short hair... ngh, it looked so strange... and this makeup- she rubbed at her freckles, hoping that would conceal them.

Unsurprisingly, it didn't work.]

[Jean had his own share of clothes he needed to fit into, but at least that was that. No need to put on wigs or try acting a lot different than he was. Just ridiculous horse-themed clothes to make him look the part at least a little.

Well, it was still better than the other class' ridiculous outfits.]

To an untrained eye, you look just like Junko. You couldn't fool me though.

You think so? When I tried to do the makeup before, Junko said it made me look ugly...

She's supposedly the Ultimate Fashionista. She's going to be judgy about everyone else's looks no matter how good they are.

[Well, maybe not "supposedly". It's one of her too many talents, he supposed.]
